How we work

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At ISS, we believe everyone deserves to feel respected, supported and empowered to thrive. When people feel they belong, our teams grow stronger, our workplaces are safer, and we deliver better outcomes for our clients and the communities we serve.

Our DEI vision

Global vision with local purpose

Our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion is guided by a global vision and grounded in local action.

Across Australia and New Zealand, this includes our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan and our commitment to honouring Māori culture and tikanga.

DEI is not separate from how we operate. It is embedded in our Employee Experience and connected to our ambition to be a Leading Frontline Employer, where every Placemaker feels valued, heard and able to contribute their best.

Our three DEI commitments

Leading frontline employer

We build strong systems and equitable processes and deliver a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to ensure fairness, opportunity and consistent support for all our Placemakers. This includes access to learning pathways, accessible workplace adjustments, safe reporting channels and clear expectations for wellbeing and success on site.

Inclusive culture

We create workplaces where people feel connected and respected. Through meaningful cultural moments, wellbeing initiatives, inclusive work practices and everyday behaviours that reflect our values, we build a sense of belonging across diverse frontline environments. Inclusion at ISS is practical – it’s how we collaborate, communicate and care for one another.

Inclusive leadership

Leaders play a critical role in shaping the employee experience. We support leaders to model our values, build psychological safety, communicate with transparency and recognise contributions. Strong governance, reporting and accountability ensure our DEI commitments translate into consistent behaviour and measurable progress.

Dimensions of diversity

Our DEI approach spans seven dimensions of diversity that reflect the people who make up ISS Australia & New Zealand and the communities we serve. These dimensions underpin how we build awareness, capability and meaningful action across our organisation.

Employee Resource Groups

Bringing inclusion to life

Across ISS, our people bring different perspectives, experiences and identities to work every day.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play an important role in creating connection and awareness. These volunteer-led groups support cultural recognition, community engagement and shared learning across our sites.

From Pride Month to Māori Language Week and other key moments, these activities help create workplaces where people feel seen, valued and included.

People AU
Our values

The values that define us

At ISS, our people are united by a shared set of values. They sit at the heart of who we are and how we work, shaping how we show up as leaders, colleagues and partners to our customers. Living these values is what enables us to deliver consistently, every day. We trust, we respect, we care, we act and we deliver.

They also guide the kind of culture we create. One where you can: Be who you are; Become what you want; Be a part of something bigger.
