Environment

Sustainability
ISS is committed to conducting our business operations in an environmentally responsible manner.

The main environmental impacts from ISS’s operations derive from our cleaning services and consist of use of chemicals as well as water and energy consumption. We also emit CO2 through the use of cars in our operations and travel activities.

In general, there are two ways in which ISS can influence the extent of our impacts: through the design of processes and equipment we use, and through the portfolio of services we offer to our customers.

Our approach

"Treading lightly” is an ISS approach which acknowledges that as people and organisations, we all contribute to the state of the Earth. For us, taking responsibility for our planet includes the use of environmentally friendly cleaning substances, modern tools and processes, and reduced water consumption. This also creates value for ISS as well as our customers, providing all employees with healthier, safer and more pleasant working environments.

Our health and safety management system, (ISSafe) is being expanded to address environmental requirements, including those specified in the ISS Global HSE Manual. This will increase our capability to manage both health and safety as well as the environment, using an integrated and standardised approach.

Green sourcing

As an industry leader, we work together with global partners who have integrated sustainability within their businesses. Our largest cooperative partners with the biggest environmental impact are Johnson Diversey, SCA and LeasePlan.

Johnson Diversey is the leading global provider of commercial cleaning and hygiene products providing innovative and sustainable cleaning programs to improve efficiency and protect the environment. In January 2011, JohnsonDiversey became the first in its industry to earn the Green Globe Seal in recognition of sustainability management excellence.
