ISS Third Company Day A Great Employee Engagement Exercise

For the third year in a row, ISS has held Company Day! On the 23rd and 24th August, over 200 corporate office staff from across Australia and New Zealand, rolled up their sleeves and spent a day with our frontline employees at our client sites.

The staff did a solid day’s work - some cleaned hospitals or provided patient meals, while others performed security services at airports or cleaned in major universities or sporting venues. There were also those that went to our resources sites and commercial buildings, where they worked beside an ISS service employee and assisted in their daily tasks.  

ISS’ corporate office staff provide support to our frontline operations teams, ensuring they have the optimal tools, systems and training to deliver the best service outcomes for our customers. To continuously improve this support, it’s important our corporate managers understand the challenges our service staff face on a day-today basis. Company Day is a great initiative which brings these teams together, allowing them to share knowledge and learn from one another.

For the first time this year, ISS encouraged our Key Account Managers to participate in Company Day. We had several KAM’s attend a site from a different division, which proved a great way to promote the cross-pollination of ideas in our business.

Company Day is beneficial to everyone involved: ISS, its people and customers. Through this day, our managers develop new skills, understand the practicalities and challenges faced by their colleagues, and view operations with a fresh perspective – quite often identifying areas for change and improvement. This inclusive interaction and communication are an excellent way to get close to employees and customers and understand the job from their viewpoint.

Company Day gives them a truly unique opportunity to engage with our service professionals and gain an appreciation for the work, dedication and great customer service they deliver. Company Day has proved a remarkable initiative to building employee engagement and improving our overall workplace culture. “

We’ve had great feedback about Company Day this year, from clients as well as our own staff. ISS will continue this initiative as it’s proved a very rewarding, insightful and valuable experience for all involved.
