Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do you clean the carpets?

A. We have three main methods of carpet cleaning and our technician will advise which one best suits your needs.

1. Hot Water Extraction

This is sometimes referred to as “steam cleaning” or “carpet shampooing” but basically it is a machine that sprays out hot water or cleaning solution to flush the dirt from the carpet and simultaneously vacuums the liquid back into the waste tank for disposal.  Stainguarding products, deodorisers and antimicrobial sprays can be applied after HWE cleaning if specified.  (This method is ideal for carpets that have very heavy soiling including solids and liquids that can’t be lifted out dry in the pre vacuum stage.)

2. Dry-Fusion carpet cleaning.

An all in one system that cleans, stainguards, deodorises and heat dry’s the carpet in 30 mins. This is a low moisture carpet cleaning system, utilising a hot pre moistened cleaning pad and a buffer with an in house heating element, it is a fantastic method for domestic clients with pets and kids, virtually no drying time, and also a fantastic method of maintaining commercial carpet. The pre rake and vacuum clean are an essential part of Dry-Fusion carpet cleaning as there is no extraction from the machine, the system works by solubilising any remaining dirt after the vac and absorbing it into the pad, whilst drying the carpet and heat bonding the stain guard to the fibres.

3. Encapsulation cleaning

This is another low moisture method of cleaning, ideal for budget entry exit tenancy cleans and also for commercial maintenance cleaning, it works by applying the cleaning product to the carpet with a brush or rotary pad and emulsifying the dirt left behind after dry vacuum cleaning. The product crystallises as it dries encapsulating the emulsified dirt, once fully dry, which is usually inside an hour the carpet can be vacuumed again and this will lift out the microscopic crystalline dust left behind, we can also stain guard the carpet with this method if specified.

Q. Do I have to empty the rooms?

A. Not if you don’t want to, but the more space you can make for our techs the better, ie, move small lamps, tables, ornaments, kids toys etc, we can work round bigger items or move and reposition them for you if requested, any heavy objects, like book shelf’s, drawers’ cabinets etc will need to be striped of books and ornaments if you want us to move them for cleaning.

Q. Do I have to vacuum the carpets?

A. No! we thoroughly pre vacuum any carpet cleaning work.

Q. Do I have to be there when you do the job?

A. No we are happy to work unsupervised

Q. How long will it take to dry?

A. In 30 mins with Dry-Fusion, in 1-2 hours with Encapsulation cleaning, and depending on the volume of water used and humidity it can take up to 24 hours to dry if we use Hot Water Extraction, but usually within 4 to 6 hours.

Q. Are the chemicals you use dangerous?

A. No we use eco friendly, non toxic highly biodegradable products wherever possible, some of the stain removal products are a little harsher, but used in minimal quantities and extracted out after treatment.

Q. Do you have an Environmental Policy?

We comply with all NZ environmental policy and endeavour to operate as environmentally responsible as possible.

Q. Health and safety?

ISS rates the health and safety of its employees and customers above all else.
